Reiter Foothills Recreation Plan kick-off meeting.

“Reiter Trails” may finally become an off-road vehicle area - with your help!! Your attendance is needed this Tuesday evening, February 12, at a meeting hosted by the Department of Natural Resources in Monroe.  Many different types of recreation users will attend this meeting (including anti-ORV users) to tell the DNR how the forest in the Reiter Trails area should be planned for recreation.  You need to be there to tell them that off-road vehicle use is the top priority for recreation at this location.

Tell them that there is significant off-road vehicle use in this area now, there has been for decades, it is an existing use that only needs to be formalized and that there is a huge demand for an off-road vehicle park in Snohomish County.  We need an ORV park that spans from the Wallace River to east of the Index wall.

It has taken many years of hard work to get DNR to work towards designation of Reiter Trails as an off-road recreation area. Your riding buddies at the Snohomish County Off-Road Vehicle Committee and the Stumpjumpers have been lobbying the County and DNR since the early 1990’s to get an ORV park in Snohomish County. In 2006 the County passed new zoning laws to provide for off-road vehicle use and set aside funding for a facilty.  Now we need to get DNR to designate the area so that the County and DNR can move ahead.

11,305 off-road vehicles were licensed in Snohomish County in 2007, and 19,916 in King County. These Counties have the highest number of ORVs in the State and neither has a designated off-road vehicle area.  It has taken 15 years to get here.  Now is the time to make it happen!
