If you are new to poker runs, please check out the Northwest Motorcycle Association’s (NMA) website for generalized information regarding these immensely fun events. All of the Desert 100 poker runs are part the annual NMA Poker Run Series. Free hot dogs available on the Family and Ironman course, while supplies last!
Family Poker Run
This is a fun event for the whole family and each year it gathers hundreds and hundreds of motorcycle riders just looking to have a fun ride and great time. Distance for the family loop averages 10 to 13 miles. Family and Ironman courses share some of the same trails so pay close attention to course markings and be on the lookout for large orange signs designating where the courses split. Difficulty varies, but every year we have numerous kids complete the course on 50cc motorcycles. However, there are some tough sections where parents will likely need to help their children. Less experienced riders are encouraged to ride with experienced riders.
Ironman Poker Run
The Ironman poker run is not for the faint of heart. Designed for the more advanced dirt bike rider, this event is much longer and harder than our Family course. Distance of the loop is about 35 miles, and if you want to be a true Ironman finisher, you better do two laps for a total of 70 miles! Parts of the Ironman course are shared with the Family poker run, so keep a look out for the signage marking where the courses split.
Adventure Dual Sport (ADV/DS) Poker Run
The ADV/DS poker run is for street legal motorcycles that can go 60 to 75 miles before refueling. Total mileage, which includes all trail sections, varies between 110 to 150 miles. This combined route distance is approximately 1/3 single track and 2/3 gravel or paved road. The ADV/DS route is completely separate from either the Family or Ironman courses. It consists of a number of single track trail sections, scattered over a large area of Grant, Lincoln and Adams counties, connected by paved or graveled county roads. Trail difficulties vary, and are classified on the supplied map and on boards located at each trail head. We have a checkpoint at the Rocky Coulee Brewery, located in downtown Odessa, where they offer a reasonably priced lunch. Refueling is available on course at designated locations, bring a credit or debit card to pay at the pump, as these locations are not always staffed. Entry includes optional access to either the Family or Ironman courses. Family or Ironman loop distance is in addition to ADV/DS mileage.
Maps, GPS tracks and electronic roadbooks will be available at the event, from the Dual Sport Information window located at registration. For GPS tracks, please have your GPS or a storage device available at registration.
