Is there any official “Stumpjumpers” explanation anywhere?
Brian, the ones that completed the full course, designated by a specific check point marking, were marked with a 3rd lap. A corner was blown and the pack followed in the dust missing a loop the leaders did complete. That moved those leaders in front of the main pack that did miss the loop.
